Do I understand the style to be horizontal with a 30 degree angle to the dial plane? This makes it closer to being in the plane of the N-S meridian. I don't understand why the 11am hour line has a gap in the middle. Does that mean the sun is behind the dial plane? I have observed about that time during the year when the sun starts to reach that vertical surface.
