The problem is "easy" to solve...
Simply rename your xmodmap-executable to xmodmap.orig.

Hi,

I installed a fresh Feisty and I have exactly the same problem with my
Sun
keyboard ...
When I turn on utxconfig -k a lot of keys do not function correctly,
for
example backspace and enter.

and the all important space bar! :o)

Have you found a solution about that ??

Sadly no. Anyone else?

no succes here. it seems that changes in gnome packages makes impossible
to configure keyboard correctly on feisty.

Interesting... because if it is a Gnome thing (and I think you may be
correct there) then the Solaris/JDS teams will hit it when they look at
Gnome 2.18....
