I'm also currently having a problem with the sound keys not working with gnome. I have to place a service call on that issue. Do your sound keys work?
Also which version of SRS are you running.

For Sound with Firefox and Flash player you must install:
libflashsupport-9.0-1.0.i386.rpm
The USB sticks they automount in /tmp dir, but you need a symbolic link
or something like that.
At this moment i have SRSS over Solaris, and i plan to migrate to RH.
