I work with some of the top DJs in the world, and the principle reason
that most of 'em give on why they use (and prefer) vinyl is simple.
You can SEE a track on a record. When a CD is spinning the playing
face is facing the laser and therefore not visible... On a record you
can see the start/end of a track and when you get REALLY good some
DJ's claim that they can actually see where the loud/quiet sections
are from the different shades of colour of the vinyl.
Personally I don't like vinyl 'cos it scratches too easily and you've
got to be careful of where you keep it... I nearly melted about 200 of
Graeme Park's old school records when moving our store room by storing
them in a corner that had a hidden hot water pipe in the wall!

P.s. I AM trying to get more sunscreem played both on air and in
clubs! I got Perfect Motion played on air last Friday in Manchester...

Sure, they exist, but no DJ from the "ol' days" is going to use them.
Vinyl simply feels better, sounds better, and give a DJ full control over
the music playing. With the CD decks on the market, you still can't touch
the actual CD, so you can't manipulate the sound directly.
It's a pain carrying 30 kilo of vinyl around, but we love it nontheless :)
