Hey Dennis....I cant tell if you're being sarcastic in your post, but Ill answer your
questions anyways!! =)
DivX was Circuit city's DVD format...but it wasnt a pay everytime you want to watch it
even if you bought it. It was meant as a rental strategy, like blockbuster...you pay
$4 or something, and you get to watch it 2-3 times, not sure exactly...then you can
just throw it away. Wasnt encoded in a special format...just had a lock or something
where you can only watch it a certain amount of times, and instead of having to return
to store, you just threw it away...disposable DVD,s lets call it. =)
And DivX, as you read before is a new encoding format brought out by the MPEG
industry...its actually called MPEG-4....but of course, Bill and his henchman modified
it, and its propietary now, and we NEED to have WMP 6.3 on our systems to use it. The
Mac DivX player is a totally seperate entity...just like Quicktime Player...but
everytime you load it up, it looks for WinMedia Player 6.3....what kind of BS is
that??? MS at its finest.
