Hi, David -

My impression has led me to decide a G4 upgrade for my S900 will not be a
prudent thing costwise in addition to having some unsettling feeling that I may
run into conflicts.
I speak only for my situation and limits placed on how much I want to spend on
the machine.
I'm still straddling the fence on whether to spend the money on a G3/500 XLR8
Carrier card setup, which I think has reached a price point to be reasonable for
an old machine like the S900.
But with the most recent Apple G4 tower lineup and pricing, it's a tough call.
As a Photoshop user, a G4 would be nice, but maybe not necessarily in the S900.
I don't think I can take full advantage of the processor in it.
I can continue to use it as-is for the SCSI film scanner, CD burners and the
serial printers and use a new G4 Apple for crunching the photo files.
The external firewire drive I recently bought with this in mind would come in
handy when the day comes (who knows when...)

Your situation, ofcourse, will be different.

Alan
