Verrrryy interressting, the ladies suggest I wash my dishes and clean the utensils and Howie suggests I get rid of the junk and replace with good stuff. I hope I am not being politically incorrect here. I am only attempting humor. Thank you Nancy and Sybil, I will have to investigate the CD cleaning stuff. My CD's are clean since I seldom use them and try to keep fingers off the active surface. I dont know about the drive. All very good advice, and being a bachelor of long standing I had already this morning replaced the Matshita with an Apple 600i, 4X. And all works fine now. (I am not good at housework). I do remember reading, somewhere (I think) in the "read me" files while installing NSW, about avoiding some combination of hardware and/or software or face some troubles with CD drives. But cannot find the place again. I am not clear as to what is done, to "Apple ROM" a CD drive. What that entails I have no idea. Mine came from Power-On with their stickers on it, so I assume some firmware was changed by them or maybe they just cleaned and calibrated. I agree with all your conclusions, there is one thing that stuck in my mind, and that is what jj said in digest #1076 ON: Fri, 22 Mar 2002 19:28:11 -0500 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wrote: Snip >IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER- Use the right version of Disk Doctor and >Conflict Catcher for the end OS.
