At one point, I did have the Apple TT extension called 9600 Graphics
Extension. However, it is no longer in my machine. I really don't
remember if it was in the system in OS 8.6 (I did a clean install of
8.6, and about a year later a clean install of 9.1)

I now have an extension that "looks" just like it, but is labeled ATI
Graphics Acceleration. I don't know if it was part of the OS 9.1
install or the ATI install for the Radeon Mac Edition card. But, the
Apple TT performs better now.

You are right about the confusion between the Apple TT and the ixMicro
TT extensions. I tried ever ixMicro TT extension I could find, when I
first got the 9600. None of them worked. Some of them even crashed my
system.

OFF TOPIC: I, perhaps mistakenly, assumed that ATI had written a new
driver for the Apple TT card. All of this happened around the same
time: ixMicro went away, Apple started using ATI cards in all of their
new machines, and OS 9 came out.

If anyone with an ixMicro TT card wants to play around with the ATI
Graphics Acceleration Extension, let me know. I can send your one off
list. And, I noticed the other day that Jeff has the Apple 9600
Graphics Extension listed on his web site, if you want to play with it
too.
