I don't know how many have this problem with C500/C600 machines that have G3 Upgrade cards, but I thought that I'd tell you what I've learned.
I have a C500 with a Sonnet Crescendo L2 G3 upgrade and a Sonnet Tango Firewire/USB card. Ever since I installed these last year, I've had a stuttering problem with system sounds, alerts, etc. I could get it to go away by deactivating my G3 upgrade card. Discussing this with Sonnet was of little help because they could not duplicate the problem. Well, I stumbled on a web site called the 6400 Zone that covers the Apple 6400/6500 machines and discovered that they have the same problem, which isn't surprising since the same logic board is used in all 4 machines. However, I also found out, on the site, that by disabling the USB extensions while leaving the G3 card activated also eliminated the problem! Since I don't have an USB need right now, that is the path I've taken. I've emailed Sonnet with my findings so maybe they can see what is conflicting between their Processor Upgrade Extension and USB. Dennis -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
