Hi Dennis, We don't have any sound sets active. On the C600, I have it set to the voice "Victoria." When a dialog box pops up, she says "Ron, I need help!" I have never noticed her stuttering. Most of the other sounds are turned off. (The computers are in my office, which is just down the hall from our bedroom. Since Ron often goes to bed early, and I often work on the computers late at night, I like to be as quiet as possible.)
You mentioned CD-ROM Toolkit. Do you still use it since you replaced the CD drive? I never liked it. And, I think over the years we paid to update it twice. We use the Apple CD-DVD drivers for our CD. Our LaCie CD-R/W seems to work fine with the Apple drivers (or none at all). I use Toast Titanium for burning CDs. Could the CD-ROM Toolkit stuff be a source of your problems? Having never had the stuttering problem (thankfully) I am clueless on suggestions. Nancy > Dennis B.
