Stephen -

I started out with a UW Miles card and a Barracuda drive to supplement the
factory SCSI-2 drive.
Then I added the Tempo card and 60-gb IDE drive.
MachFire card and the EZQuest is the latest - I added the firewire setup for
ease of sneaker-neting between my S900 and several Apple G4s that's down the
street at my friend's studio.

These days, adding internal IDE card and drive may cost slightly less then a
firewire card and external drive.
But in an S900, the internal IDE route is probably less troublesome if you have
to make a choice.
