Have you attempted to clean the jets? You didn't mention this in your post
so I assume not. This won't address what dried ink may be just inside, but
if its near the surface, it might work.
Go out to your garage and grab a can of highly compressed fuel injector
cleaner... not really.
Depending on the type of ink, you can first try dabbing water with a Q-Tip
or tissue on the little plate where the ink meets the paper. Not good to
use long side sweeps because this tends to leave lint or threads, try to dab
w/ a tad bit of rub.
If water doesn't loosen visible dried ink then try alcohol instead. It all
depends on whether you have a water based ink or oil, but most refills are
water. (IE, even with a dried sheet of printed paper, the ink will run if
you drip water on it)
Make sure to dry the face by dabbing tissue after it seems you've cleaned up
most of the dry ink. This doesn't always work but sometimes the liquid will
seep into the jets and loosen the stuff up sufficiently. Closely inspect
face when completed to make sure no lint is left. (Not yours, the cartridge
:)
As a final attempt 'after' the first method doesn't work, you can try
blowing back the jets. This is last resort. Hold your mouth over jets with
cartridge upright so ink won't come out other pore and blow with medium
pressure. This may merely move the hardened obstacle back into the
reservoir. Shake canister around a little to help move object away from
jets. Once here, it may break down again over time. If you're lucky.
Besides, if you have dried ink already inside the ink cartridge, you have
nothing to lose. Good Luck!
