Tim,
The few times I have lost drives over the years I have had good luck using a
"Utility Cocktail" approach.
Basically I have different utilities up and running and try to coax the
drive up with two at a time.
The 4 I have used in this manner are Mt. Everything, FWB HDToolkit &
Mounter, add SCSI Probe, and APS Powertools. Of course, for the hard core
mix you can probably, Drive Setup and whatever your flavor. OK, how bout
HDST.
Yes I am too being serious! :) Reasoning is, sometimes an App like Mt.
Everything can 'sense' the drive but isn't able to actually mount it. Mt.
Everything has its own driver so it accomplishes a vital step in the
process. So while it is trying, I let FWB have a crack at it at the same
time. If one pair doesn't work, switch around cause just trying to rescue a
drive is hit & miss sometimes. Kind of crude but it definitely has worked
for me several times.
Hope this helps.
Dave
