The focus is on trying to send a mount command to that IDE drive, which is
why I mentioned the readily available Apple Drive Setup. It will recognize
IDE drives, as will FWB Mounter if you own that utility. But others, such as
SCSI Probe, and Mt. Everything, won't recognize IDE drives and therefore
won't mount your Maxtor.

If mounting attempts fail, it'll be on to plan B. I'll think up a plan B,
honest I will.   =)
