ok ...thanks I will give it a go... of course I should have been a smart bunny and stuck to scsi.
many of the problems I have encountered involved the IDE card and drive. but thats all hind site. I do have a scsi up and running now but its intermittent. I am hoping to get my data off this maxtor somehow. I burn things pretty regularly but as fate has it I hadn't burned in a month or so. Now begins the long recovery process.. :-( I will get this machine up and running again but its on to an apple machine after this I think. sigh... will report back on things...as they develop... cheers, tim > >> on 7/7/02 3:41 PM, t molnar at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > >> Of course diskwarrior, norton utilities, techtools resided on both >> the volumes of the maxtor drive I created, so no luck there. >> >> Every once in a while the computer tries to access the maxtor with >> the resulting clicking. >> >> Mb I will try the cuda reset etc... >> >> Still waiting for the more technologically inclined to offer some advice. > >Tim, >The few times I have lost drives over the years I have had good luck using a >"Utility Cocktail" approach. > >Basically I have different utilities up and running and try to coax the >drive up with two at a time. > >The 4 I have used in this manner are Mt.
