ok ...thanks
I will give it a go...

of course I should have been a smart bunny and stuck to scsi.

many of the problems I have encountered involved the IDE card and drive.

but thats all hind site.

I do have a scsi up and running now but its intermittent.

I am hoping to get my data off this maxtor somehow. I burn things
pretty regularly but as fate has it I hadn't burned in a month or so.

Now begins the long recovery process.. :-(

I will get this machine up and running again but its on to an apple
machine after this I think.

sigh...

will report back on things...as they develop...

cheers,
tim
