Well, while the SCSI Probe thread has been fun, I have to deal with a few more serious problems. Does anybody have any guesses as to why I am getting this message immediately after the extensions load:
"This Disk is unreadable by this computer. Do you want to initialize it? Dos 720k." It seems to have started soon after I installed this Atapi Zip drive, but it didn't begin right away, so I can't say for certain it is actually related. I also disconnected the zip prior to one start-up and it still gives this notice. There is absolutely nothing resembling a removable disk in the zip, floppy, or anywhere else on the entire unit. Even my external scsi chain was disconnected and the msg continues. This still could relate to a much more serious problem that has just begun with my system refusing to boot at startup or cold start. Sometimes, not even the restart gave a chime, and all I get is a grey screen with the arrow in the top left. This morning it started ok after I removed the scsi chain, so I am hoping that is the problem since doing a slight re-order for connecting a laptop. But hopefully this will be tracked to the external scsi order. However like I say, this weird message continues with out the external scsi's connected. Apparently removing the Tall Ram stick may not have been the problem either as this made no difference on the second subsequent startup. I think it may have just been coincidence that it worked after removing the stick. It would still be good to hear again what the loading order of ram is at start-up. Anyway ideas on this weird start-up message are appreciated. Maybe my IDE didn't like being SCSI Probed. Yeah Will, this is another doozie. :) Dave s900, OS 9.1, XLR8 G3, lots of ram -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
