I had the exact same message come up on my PM9600 with a VST ATA66 PCI card and an ATAPI ZIP drive. I had the good fortune to have an Apple-version ATAPI ZIP drive and a PC-version ATAPI ZIP drive available - BOTH versions gave me the same message! Remove the ATAPI ZIP drive (both types), and the message went away. I came to the conclusion that there was some incompatibility between the VST card and the ZIP drive. I ran into other problems - I don't recall now if they were similar to your start-up problems. I do remember having some random freezes due to accessing inserted ZIP disks. I ended up putting in a SCSI ZIP disk - problems vanished. I wanted to experiment with the Sonnet ATA66 card and even put it/them into one of my S900s, but, alas, I've got too many projects on my plate with my school and my 6 home machines. BTW, I run OS 9.1 on all my old world machines (working toward using OS X on one of my S900s or PM9600s). From: "David R." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Does anybody have any guesses as to why I am getting this message immediately after the extensions load:
"This Disk is unreadable by this computer. Do you want to initialize it? Dos 720k." It seems to have started soon after I installed this Atapi Zip drive, but it didn't begin right away, so I can't say for certain it is actually related. I also disconnected the zip prior to one start-up and it still gives this notice. ---Snip ---- Anyway ideas on this weird start-up message are appreciated. Maybe my IDE didn't like being SCSI Probed. Yeah Will, this is another doozie. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
