Intriguing that you had both the VST ATA/66 card and an Atapi Zip. I do wonder if there is a common thread here. But I again tried disconnecting the Atapi Zi before boot up and it didn't seem to make the "This Disk is unreadable by this computer. Do you want to initialize it? Well I used to have a Newertech G3 300 card in here but not for about 4 months. I've run utilities, rebuilt desktop, zapped, cudad. Battery is relatively new. I guess I just need to try some different things and see what might work. It is interesting that others here have come across this before. George, did you have an Atapi Zip or VST ATA/66 card as well? I do wonder what would happen if I allowed it to initialize? If this issue is related to the VST IDE Card, I'd be somewhat concerned that it might be sensing the IDE drive and end up wiping that. The notice seems to occur just as the main ide drive is about to mount, then when I tell the alert to Eject, the rest of the desktop shows up. So right now the mystery prevails.
