Same here, my Pioneer (Mac bootable) CDROM failed exactly like Adrian's. I happened to have an old 4x8 Yamaha burner, CDr400t, in an external case, so I thought, what the heck. I made sure it was terminated, and darned if it didn't work perfectly. SCSI termination issues are a big factor in failures to install OS X on these Supermacs. The only thing for sure about installing OS X on these older machines, is that nothing is for sure.
