Sorry if that's wasn't clear but yes you've got the idea now !
Just in case..according to Ryan 8 is the default setting.  This isn't 
to speed up or down your CPU for general use. It is in fact a way to 
make it possible for some CPU's to boot OSX which otherwise can't. It 
only slows down the cpu for the booting otherwise some machines give up 
too soon and the slow down gives it a bit more time to boot. I just 
reread the info and it has to do with syncing the cpu to the hard drive 
you are using. Some drives boot too slow for the cpu so the installer 
gives up to soon when the cpu is running at full throttle. I use mine 
at 16 or 17 can't see a difference. Sometimes I need to force restart 
to get it to boot into OSX no matter what setting. Likely my cheap ram 
but no other known side effect so putting up with it.
