This is dangerously wrong. The hard disk driver _must_ be updated to run
later OS versions either before installing and then restarting [safer], or
using the automatic update feature of the installer, whether or not you
reformat to HFS+.

FWIW, the last OS that could boot from a floppy was 8.5.
