gee, i actually get tired of solder flux, tends to irritate my eyes, and
that's with rosin flux, the organic acid water wash stuff gets really
obnoxious, though it lets you solder almost anything.  best to pull the
fumes away with a fan through a carbon filter.  far cheaper to make one
than buy one, i used one where i used to work and really liked it.  you
can get adsorbent carbon filter media from  grainger, or just buy the
replacement filters for the commercial units.  it only takes a small
fan.  thanks for the tip on chipquick, i'll definitely have to try it
once i get a bench setup again, hopefully this winter (hopefully i'll
also have the furnace moved over to my part of the garage as well!). 
besides, no one needs the lead fumes.  i must admit i love soldering
myself, i find it a some what zen activity, it requires just enough
concentration to occupy your thoughts and block those annoying
intrusions, then again i also kind of like building cables sometimes.
