$120 for a PowerLogix G3/400 daughtercard is VERY sweet, especially
if it's a 1-meg cache. I bought my G3/350/512 cache for $139 US from
Small Dog last year. Runs beautifully under both OS 9.1 and OS X . It's
also nicely set up to tinker with should you want to experiment with
overclocking - Powerlogix has included dipswitches on the Powerforce,
and even has provision on the heatsink for mounting a 486-sized fan to
it. I've got mine overclocked to 400 MHz.
I got a notice from DealMac tonight that OWC has dropped the price
of the XLR8 MAChspeed Carrier G3/275 down to $68. That's worth it just
for the Machspeed alone, and would get you started until you found a G4
ZIF to plug into it at a good price :)
