When you get around to retrying the OS X install, you might want to have a look at the "throttle" feature in XPostFacto. Sometimes setting it's value to something close to 24 (the slowest) helps the boot get all the way through. My experience was that once it had made a successful boot, I could move the throttle up to the lower numbers (faster boot) for later reboots. - Gary
