The jumpers on your XLR8 card were for setting the CPU multiplier which can also be done on the Carrier card but the settings on the Zif took president(spelling ;-) over the Carrier card and was likely for when used in the Beige G3 which uses the Zif without the Carrier card. I'm looking in my XLR8 book and the settings for your card to run at 500mhz should be...1,4,5,8,9,10,11,12 on this is the 9x multiplier which is for G4's only but you can run at a slower multiplier but this would mean a higher bus for the same CPU speed which would mean a lower maximum speed. But you likely already know that for OS9. What are your other settings in Cache Control X? ARE you trying to set the cache ratio too high? Start low to get things to work. I'd start at 3:1 or even 4:1 if that is given as a choice. My G3 500mhz runs at the default of 5:2 in OS 9 but will do the faster 2:1 in OSX. So I have reason to belive cache can be faster in OSX but most CPU's it seems will crash at the 3:2 setting. If you get a warning when trying to set the ratio I say go with the highest that gives no warning. When running at 500 mhz and above write through should be turned on and while spec processing should likely be turned off in OS 9 it should be fine to turn on in OSX. If these setting still don't help I'd try a slower setting but still using the 9x multiplier. I'd start with the 450mhz cpu 50mhz bus which would be:1,2,4,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 there were some charts that gave wrong settings for some speeds but I belive the info I'm giving you is correct. I hope this helps, best of luck Will S -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
