Hi all This is pretty off topic, but then again, I've posted an off-topic thread or two in my day ;-) My main box is a J700, it has my email and stuff on it, but I betatest a computer called the Pegasos. It is made by bPlan of Germany and distributed by Thendic France, SaRL (did I get the suffix right, for you Euro guys out there?) Anyway, it currently has a 600MHz G3 CPU on it, and a PC133 memory interface which can take up to 2GB memory as 2 sticks. It also has onboard firewire, USB 1.1, sound, PC style ser/par/joy ports, an AGP2x slot, and three PCI slots as well as onboard IDE, IRDA and Floppy control/connectors. ITs a pretty neat piece of software, and it can run Linux, MacOnLinux, and MorphOS.
If anyone lives in Western Washington and would like to see the machine in action, I'd be happy to show it off. Since I lack a legal OSX Jaguar copy (its on the list along with a bunch of other stuff!) I can't show off the MOL part but I figure if you're still running the J700 or other SuperMac, then you must be pretty much into PPC hardware and this is a great piece of it. MorphOS is a powerPC native OS which is based on the QNX Quark microkernal, and contains among other things the 'Abox' emulation layer which provides a complete 68040 emulation and will run certain classic Amiga applications. I haven't tried getting it to run 68k Mac emulators.. yet. Otherwise, you can check out the brand new web page for SPUG, or Snoqualmie Pegasos User Group-which sadly is just me at the moment. However if anyone else would like to join, there are no membership dues or fees. All thats needed is a sincere desire to use OS and software from vendors other than Microsoft ;-) Also, and slightly more on topic, I'd like to get into the openfirmware on my J700 so I can try and get MorphOS to boot on it. How do I do that? When I hold down the option-apple-o-f keys, I just get a black screen with no bongs. Do I need the TT128 in there versus my Matrox card or am I doing something else wrong? As always this group is a bit of sanity in an insane world :-) Bolton PS If anyone here would like to try and get MorphOS to run on their SuperMac, I could probably arrange it, so contact me off list if you'd like to give it a shot. :-D -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
