Hi,
I had similar problems with Quark when one of my ram chips went bad
- a particular favourite was 'cannot open QuarkXpress because the file
cannot be found' I could find it easily enough....
The chip passed all of the ram tests in TechToolPro except 'leap'
and now it's gathering dust on a shelf above me and my Pulsar has run
fine ever since.

Hi,
The installer may freeze if it cannot read a file which it is
instructed to write over - sometimes it will tell you to move it to
another folder but some times it will just freeze. Make
sure you backup and remove the remote access prefs - there are three
inside the folder - connections, prefs and log but the log is unimportant.
Then trash the remote access extensions and reinstall (may as well put
the apple guide in or you cannot get the remote access control panel to
show) - if you connect via the control strip as I do there should be no
options for connection. Put the backed up prefs in the new remote access
prefs file - probably won't replace the log - and try the control strip
again - your connections will be restored and you'll have clean
extensions.
Trying to access classic control panels from OSX sometimes damages
them - don't know why - one of apple's little mysteries but when I tried
to get my remote access/tcpip settings from classic to X they would not
open and when I booted back to 9.1 they were damaged and I had to
reinstall.
