You can install OS 9.1 on to a disk with OS 8. You don't have to 
reformat or anything like that unless you want to. I would check the 
disk with Nortons 6 or 7 to clean up the install which I've always seen 
after any new install. But this isn't a must do unless the install of 
9.1 went south. You will lose the the CD driver but you can get this 
from Apple or go to <http://www.intechusa.com/> for the CD driver. Good
