Sound like a pretty good plan. Especially if the Sonnet G4/800 upgrade comes down in price. She could have a near 1GHz machine for a rock bottom price. If you haven't heard about that check it out here <www.sonnettech.com>. Plus they might have all the bugs worked out.
As for the ATA card check out the ACARD AHard PCI Ultra ATA/66 (long name isn't it). The Sonnet cards are based on these. OWC has them for $54.00 right now. I think they are cheaper if you are on the mailing list. They also have a pretty good price on 128MB DIMMS. I've never had an issue with them, even under OSX. Not always the rock bottom cheapest, but good service and very fairly priced. I could never afford a new machine, so I've pushed these very far on a VERY limited budget. Usually buying the parts second hand. -Robyn On Thursday, January 23, 2003, at 01:09 PM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Thanks Robyn, > > I like the idea of adding the Sonnet ATA card so that I can > install an a > 40 GB Maxtor Hard Drive that I bought but have never used.
