Are there any "gotchas" that I > should be aware of? Hi Joe I'm new to all this, but since you asked and I just did this upgrade :o) here goes... I bought EDO dimms 5 volt 168 pin 60ns buffered memory with a 2k refresh rate for my C500. I bought on ebay from desktopsales $15 per 64 stick. Don't know if he still has memory for our computers but you could try him. Didn't bother to ask the manufacturer of the dimms but so far they work great. People on the list have suggested crucial.com as a good memory source they are a little higher but I'll bet their support is better. I would install up to your maximum ( 144 like my machine I believe). I put in a USB Pci card...a Firelink. Now, even though you are running 8.6, you still will need to go to Apple.com and download an additional driver to enable your adapter card to work. It is a small and easy download :o). I'm not sure which file is for Firewire too, but it won't be hard to find. If I were you, with your machine and the length of time that you want to keep it, I probably would consider upgrading my processor, too. I'm deciding on a video card myself. Hope this helps..
