Keith,

Can you boot from a zip? If so:

duplicate your existing system folder (on 2GB Drive)
drag out all unnecessary stuff (to reduce the size to fit on the zip)
        i.e: unneeded extensions/prefs/cache files etc...
KEEP YOUR CD DRIVER EXTENSION
drag small system folder copy to zip
powerdown and switch HDs
boot off of zip
insert OS CD of choice
and away you go :)

I have duplicated the system folder and eliminated everything I
believe is unnecessary and got the folder down to about 80MB. To
check and see if I can boot from it before I switch hard drives, I
have selected the zip as my startup disk and tried to power up and
start from the zip with the 2 GiG hard drive still installed but it
doesn't work. The computer diskette shows up for a brief period
showing that it is looking for the startup disk but after a few
seconds it boots to the 2 Gig Hard drive. Is there a step I am
missing in selecting the zip as my start up disk via the control
panel or will this only work with the 2 Gig Hard drive removed and
the blank drive installed?

Keith
