Although the printer being non-AppleTalk used to be an issue, with OSX it is not a problem at all. Hell my HP LaserJet4000 doens't even have ethernet! I had it connected to a Win98 laptop and used printer sharing. OSX was able to handle it fine (it's a hidden feature, but there) without any extra software. I moved that printer to a D-Link DI-704P router with built-in print server, once again, OSX didn't have a problem.
Just realize that the printer isn't going to make itself known. You'll have to tell the machine where it is at. If it is a PostScript printer, it doesn't matter if you have drivers or not, once you have told the machine where it is at, and the proper protocal (LPD, IP, etc) it'll work. <quote who="Pastor Mac"> > On Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at 07:58 AM, dan_A wrote: > I rebooted (took time just to figure out how to restart--kept looking > for the "Restart" choice under the Special menu!) but, alas, the > printer wasn't found.
