You are a little off, but not by much. You can install OSX on a G3 upgraded machine that has the removable daughter cards. i.e. PM 75/76/85/86/95/9600 and the clones based on those designes, like the S900/J700. You cannot do this if the machine doesn't have an upgradeable processor, such as the PM6500. These machines have G3 upgrades that go in the L2 cache slot, the original processor is also left in the machine, it's just turned off. Right now, no one has been able to enable the G3 card on those machines, they only will see the original processor. I love OSX and have been running OSX on a G3 upgraded S900 and PM 8500 for almost 2 years now. OS9 incites rage everytime I get stuck having to use it. What are commonly known as the PCI powermacs (kind of misleading label) have no problems with the G3 processor getting enabled. > > The only problem I have is the L2CacheConfig software which enables my > card's 1mb L2 cache doesn't always seem to startup properly on its own. > I frequently have to start the software to enable (again) the L2 > cache. Anyone else have this problem? Know the solution? > What software are you running? Most people seem to have good luck (myself included) with the Powerlogix software. It will work with just about any card as well. Also, it will let you disable the onboard L2 cache, you'll want to do this, as the onboard L2 can cause odd behavior, plus it slows your machine down. -Rob -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
