Hi William,

Unfortunately with both Formatting and Updating the Drivers, you do have to
be able to 'see' the drive. So if this drive worked before you switched ATA
cards, we need to try to narrow down why it isn't being seen now. If you
can answer these Q's, it might help us a bit more to narrow the problem
down:

Is this a new drive you are trying to mount, one you got used or one you had
working before?

Does the green led on the underside of the Siig card blink when you boot up
your system?

Can you tell if the hard drives are spinning up when booted? Some have LEDs
that can also be helpful in troubleshooting a drive.

I have sometimes found that certain slower speed cables won't work but also
make certain your cable is a good one. Also, which OS are you using?

Do any drives show up for you on the new ATA card? You still have the older
ATA/66 card right? You can run both cards at the same time too. So if you
want, (and can), you could try the drive on the older card, format it there
if possible, then bring it over to the new card where hopefully it would be
seen and reformat again there.

Definitely try HDST as Alan suggests if you have it, but also try FWB Hard
Disk Toolkit if you have access to that. You might also try SCSI probe as
it can sometimes be helpful in seeing drives. I can email you the latest
version if you want as it is free. Let me know with an email. You can also
attempt using Norton Utilities v. 5.5 or v.6. It has a feature on the main
menu 'Show Missing Disks' that sometimes can see unseen drives. Once seen
by one app, you can often go into Drive Setup and do a quick format. If you
get this far, I restart before doing anything more to the drive. I often go
ahead and zero all data once I get a drive back, then restart again.

Are you certain that your drive's Master Slave Jumper Settings are correct?
What you might do is try just one drive at a time at the end of the cable.
Set the drive to Master (or Single depending on the drive). If this doesn't
help, shut down and try changing the settings to Cable Select, as this seems
to give orders to the drive to select the proper configuration. Always shut
down to make these changes and every once in a while, you should zap pram.

I personally had to update the firmware on my Siig card before it would work
on my system, but my symptoms were different then yours as the card
prevented my system from booting, so I would not recommend this step at this
juncture. But is t is something we can keep on the back burner.

Good luck,

Dave
