William, not many clues but here's a few stabs at towards a solution. > If there is a green light on the bottom of the card I don't see it. It's a very tiny led on my Siig which isn't noticeable unless a drive on the card is being accessed. So either we have another clue, or your model doesn't have a light. Again, the ASP shows my model as the ACARD, 6280M. I can't pull my card right now to see if it has any more specific model name but at least according to ASP, we have the same model. Does yours show an 'M' in the ASP?
> > The drive spins. Obvious good sign but of course you may have also received a bad drive. Also possible is that in your attempts on the other card, it may have suffered a head crash. Do you have any other 'known-working' IDE drive that you can plug onto the ATA cable instead. If not, you can probably go down to the local Goodwill and pick up a good 1 or 2 gig for a few bucks. This way you can absolutely rule out that whether there is a problem with the card. > > Slave-master jumper in right place-got diagrams from IBM. If you have only one drive on the cable, you want it simply at 'Master' or 'Single' but NOT 'Master w/ Slave'. Can be a big difference. One thing you might try if this isn't it, is putting the drive jumpers to Cable Select (CS). This might be called the 'J6 Jumper Setting'. Even with drive supposed to be set at Master, I have rescued drives that won't mount as such, but are somehow seen when set to CS. Then once its formatted, I switch it back to Master.
