William,

Had a few other thoughts.

If you are using a dual drive cable, make sure to put the drive on the end
of cable. You might also use the cards' #1 IDE Channel. This is the one
furthest away from the card mounting plate. When I first got my card, I had
troubles using the #2 Channel.

You also said you had the latest firmware, I assume you then have 2.14?
Mine came with 2.10, showed up in ASP just fine, but #2 Channel would not
work properly on my system until I upgraded to 2.14. After that, it ran
flawlessly.

Not all utilities will show you the firmware version. HDST will but I
couldn't get HDTK or ASP to do so. It is also possible for firmware to get
corrupted during install efforts or maybe even shipping with all the xray to
packages going on. So it will be a good thing to verify what version shows
up if you can.

I can't explain why 2.10 wouldn't work on my system but it ran fine on the
prior owners. We think it somehow got confused by the new system or
possibly corrupted during install. Even if you do have the latest, just
'maybe', your firmware will need to be re-flashed so as to recognize its new
home? It is super easy to flash these but there is a procedure to follow.
But again, that alternative should wait until we exhaust other options such
as using another test drive and changing Jumper Settings on the present one.

Aha! Just checked this, SCSI Probe 5.2 shows the firmware version right up
on the front pulldown menu.
