Those will work fine. Check out the drive compatibility matrix at <www.xlr8yourmac.com> to make sure the drive you have in mind will work okay. 99% of the drives will work fine, but not all will boot the machine from a CD or work with DiscBurner/iTunes. > Speaking of ATA, will I get any > adverse effects (clicks and such) with IDE? Typically, no. There were some issues with this on the Sonnet Tempo ATA/66 card, but a patch was released that fixed it (basically slowed the IDE bus speed a few MHz) I never did have that problem with my card. > Video: my son made a sacrificial gift: a card is saying it is ATI > Nexus GX Mac or something, I think it will suffice for PM. The card should work without the drivers, but acceleration won't be activated without them. > I will may go adventurous on SM with video. As for how > many nanoseconds my RAM is, I don't really know. RAM still is fairly cheap (not quite as cheap as the new machines, but eh), OWC <www.macsales.com> (check them out, great resourse for the upgrade resistant person, plus they have XPF for loading OSX on these machines) has them for about $25 a 128MB stick. I still remember forking out $80 for a 64MB chip in 1998. -Rob -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
