Hi Alan,

That depends on the card. Most will be happy in the lower slots, but you may
need to use a utility to "throttle back" the peak through-put so that the
PCI bus doesn't get saturated on peak demand [this is a known issue with
8500 and 9500 class motherboards]. You will definitely need to do so with a
SCSI 160 or SCA card.
