I just realized something. OS9 has the feature that allows you to set it so
it automatically synchronizes the clock with the Network Time each time it
is connected. OSX Jaguar does not have this feature, at least that I can
find. Bummer

It would seem to me that computers should be good at keeping correct time. But they aren't and never have been as far as I can tell. My PC is off by 5 min or more a week last time I checked.Before networking time which must have come with OS 9 the J700 was off several min a week. The network time setting feature has been a great fix for this issue. I'm going to guess you had this feature turned on in OS 9 otherwise your other "motherboard" wouldn't likely been keeping time any better then the one you now have.
OSX does have a check box for using networking time. It is under the Networking tab in Date & Time found under "System Preferences" This should work the same as it does in OS 9. I can't say for sure because OSX(like all UNIX I believe) does the auto Networking time check at startup if you have DSL or Cable modem always on service. Later Will S
