It would seem to me that computers should be good at keeping correct time.

I knew the details at one time but have forgotten now, except that the time discrepancy has to do with the clock not registering "time clicks" when other applications are demanding "attention".
It seems that is a feature of both Mac's and PC's.
"Date and Time" will adjust the time whenever the time differs from the Standard as long as the computer is connected to the internet and that feature is selected.
