One other caution. Don't just transfer "everything" all at once and
expect it to run. Transfer two sticks of Ram, hit the CUDA, start up.
shut off and add something else. The NVRAM needs the update after each
addition or it gets confused and will lock up.Trying to add 4 sticks of
RAM at the same time locked up my S900, and I had to revert and add them
in pairs. Did you ever determine if the video card itself failed(by
swapping it for another one)? Any PCI card that does 2 or more
functions( such as Firewire + USB) has to be in one of the upper two
slots; individual USB and Firewire cards work fine in the lower slots,
as do ATA cards.

Robert,
As I remember, I used a player application to play audio CDs on my S900 but I
tried it anyway as you suggested and didn't hear anything. It seems, as another
subscriber posted, that at this point I may have to accept that my machine is
beyond resurection. Fortunately I was able to snare an S900 from eBay cheap and
that should be arriving end of the week and I'm intending to transfer all my
RAM chips and added cards and drive to the new machine and be up and running
again. I just wish I understood better what the problem was w/ my S900 that's
not giving me video and I have this nagging concern that it's the result of
something I did. It all seemed to stem from my moving the SIIG ATA card from
PCI slot to PCI slot. Am I safe in installing the ATA card in the new S900 in
the slot below the video card (I believe that's slot #3)? One good thing,
thanks to all the posts in response to my dilemma (and research I've done on my
own), I have a more in-depth understanding and appreciation of at least some
aspects of how the S900 works. Thanks.
Elliot
