I installed 2.0b1 and it didn't harm my 1.1.17 install at all.

If we are talking about the installation files (rather than the default profile location) then on my computers the install directories are

SeaMonkey 1.x (on XP x86): C:\Program Files\\SeaMonkey

SeaMonkey 2.0 (on W7 x64): C:\Program Files (x86)\SeaMonkey

so it would seem that SM2 would not overwrite the SM1 installation.
