Here is a link that doesn't do anything for me.

I get a "click here to get the plugin" graphic, but when I click, I get a "transferring data from plugdoc.mozdev.org" message in the tray, but nothing ever happens.

For this link,
http://www.w3schools.com/media/tryit.asp?filename=trymedia_soundwaveobject
the page says, "playing the object", but there is no sound.

Those are examples of either bad coding, bad files, or file
incompatibility.

The first one is a midi. I do not have a midi player installed
on my computer that will play a streaming midi.
SM won't play it. Sorry.
Using IE8 it asks if I want to install a plug in. No.

The second one appears to be a bad wav rip out of a video.
I do not have a streaming wav player installed either.
SM won't play it.
IE8 asked to install a WMP 6.4 shim to be able to use the
video codec rip, however I don't want to have WMP2 6.4 stream
wavs to my computer.

How about trying mp3's instead? Most people can stream those.
