Under System Requirements for SeaMonkey Windows 8 is not mentioned. Why?
Does SM not work on Windows 8 (desktop not Metro)? I need it to work
because
a Windows 8 computer is on its way. and ALL 8 of my EMail addresses
are POP
only. I'm planning on using SeaMonkey Mail but now I am worried about it
working on Windows 8.
I have installed the Windows 8 Consumer Preview running on an old
Toshiba Qosmio F25 laptop, just for kicks I just downloaded Seamonkey
2.13.2...
Its running just fine in the Windows 8 desktop mode...
let me reboot and see what happens...
i had to dig in program files to find the Seamonkey.exe, dragged it down
and "pinned it" to the taskbar... works like a charm

The latest version of SeaMonkey should work just Fine. Mozilla is more
or less putting all their eggs in one Basket.
Although SeaMonkey is under the Mozilla Umbrella a different Group of
people are working on SeaMonkey. The Mozilla Main office is simply
ignoring SeaMonkey and Thunderbird for that Matter. They just recently
announce That they will only do Bug fixes and updates in code to
ThunderBird as Email New Clients have progressed as far as they can
progress so far as additions and inovation. So most R&D wil be shifted
to FireFox only.
SeaMonkey still uses FireFox's code base for the Web Browser and
ThunderBird's code base for mail and News. So until the engineers in
charge get tired or croak SeaMonkey will continue to be. I dread the
Thoughts of the Day SeaMonkey will no longer be available. It get much
enjoyment out of Reading newsgroups and Email. And not much of a Fan of
the web based email Readers. I tolerate them because Microsoft and Adobe
have gone strictly to that. I find it amazing that NNTP has never gone
down in its entire existence (except for the occasional Server
(equipment)melt down NNTP was first put into operation as a Joint
project between the armed services and Major Universities back in the
late 50's early 60's. But all this new wave web based email and
newsgroup stuff contantaly has problems. Fun how older technology always
end up more reliable than new.
