SeaMonkey is working great so far on my new Windows 8 computer.

But I can't tolerate a garish blue color for anything and the hideous
blue was why I stopped using Thunderbird years ago and will also not use
Opera mail now that it will not let you change the awful on the eyes
garish blue color.

So, can I change the blue color when I go to reply to a newsgroup post
and the text of the post I am replying to is colored in a hideous blue?
It should be in black text.

Also, how do I change the blue (any color would be preferable to the
jarringly harsh blue hi-lite color) when I click my mouse on a thread
title? Again, any color but the blue would be acceptable but I would
prefer to be able to choose the color.

Edit | Preferences | Appearance | Colors

That doesn't control the colors in email or Newsgroups when replying.
There is no setting under Edit: Message Display or Composition that
allows you to change the color of the quoted text.

Your post is quoted above my reply and it is in a garish blue font. I
need to be able change that to black preferably...but anything but blue
is acceptable.

Years ago, I could not change that in Thunderbird. I don't know about in
current TB. I had to stop using TB because of this garish blue color I
could not change.

So, how do I change the color of the quoted text when I make a reply?

As Jens Hatlak wrote elsewhere in this thread:

No, that's for web pages. What Desiree needs is at
Edit/Preferences/Mail & Newsgroups/Message Display/Plain text
messages/Color. That won't affect incoming HTML mails, though (unless
you change View/Message Body As, in which case there will probably no
quote highlighting at all for HTML mails).

But I think we've all misunderstood your complaint.

When I display your message replying to me, my quoted text is in red (because that's the color I've chosen at the pref Jens mentions). But when I reply to you, the quoted text in the composition window is in blue. Is that your point?
