Here's a strange one. I changed my Broadband ISP from o2.co.uk to
Virginmedia.com
Now I have a new default email account in my Sea Monkey Mail. I saved any of
the old mail out to a backup drive, then deleted all mail from all folders.
Then I
it contained nothing in the Inbox Sent folders etc.
closed that redundant account by removing it in the normal way, so no more
"settings" exist for it.
Now there is left over, a dead account that won't delete from the listed
accounts in the left side window.
I can rename it, so have called it "Silly Account Wont Delete" but it refuses
to be cleared away. It sits there at the bottom of my accounts list with completely
empty folders for Inbox Outbox Sent Drafts Trash and there's no command that will allow
me to take it out of the list. Anyone got any idea where it is hiding so I can get it
out of my Sea Monkey Face? !
It's not causing any harm or slowing anything down, just frustrating that
normal operations won't get rid of it completely.
(My SM is in french, so the names I give could be approximate.)
You can find the location of the folder for your account at
menu: edit / account parameters / "Silly Account Wont Delete" (or
whatever it is called now) / server parametres tab
The "local directory" field at the bottom of the page has the location
of the account folder.
If it is in the default location, its' parent directory contains the
file "profiles.ini", which shows the location of each account.
These 2 points apply to any standard version of Seamonkey, whatever the
platform.
I suspect that the account doesn't delete because the account folder is
write protected, or alternately, there is an anti-virus function active
on your computer that is recreating the folder each time you delete it.
(I ran into that problem when I used to use msw. One of the incentives
to switch to Linux.)
hope that helps
Thanks - in hope :-))
