HP 6730b laptop dual-booting Win7SP1 and MandrivaLinux 2009

Last night, I was using my Win7 system, update anti-viral/anti-malware
and noticed that a SM2.29b1 was available so clicked on ....

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/2.29b1/contrib/

and selected the 37MB download. My network meter indicated that I did
download a considerable amount of data, but I've got no idea where it
went, as I didn't get the small screen which gives me the choice to Open
with..... or Save File.

(Follow-up set to m.s.seamonkey)

O.K., re-checking situation in Win7 and find that I mis-explained the
problem above....

When I click on the link above, and select to download the 37MB file, I
do get the window asking if I want to "Open with ...." or "Save File
..." but then, when I select "Save File ...", I don't get the
possibility of selecting where the file is saved.

So I get the first small screen but not the second.

(Have I explained my problem better this time, I wonder!!)

Sounds like you don't have "Always ask me where to save files" selected in your Windows version.

In my SeaMonkey, I see the behavior you describe with the "Save files to" option selected.

If I switch them I do get the possibility of selecting where the file is saved.
