FWIW, I've been using SM mail since Netscape 2, Netscape 4, Mozilla pre-1.0.
IOW, never any other email program. And, I use it a lot, hundreds of incoming
per day, mostly from mailing lists.

This is the root of the primary problem point of my post. Deleting from
collected is pointless because that's a busy enough mailing list that it's only
a matter of a short time until the bad ones get put back. I was hoping for some
convenient way to override on an occasional basis, something short of opening
prefs or about:config.

That's what I don't want to have to do. Autocomplete is useful, except when it
refuses to accept an override. Sometimes I want an address and only a pure
address, no kind of label, name or nick, and no quotes.

I don't use any address book for any mailing list. I'm either replying to a
post, or creating a new one by right clicking the from or sender address while
in a list folder on a post from that list. The only time I need to type a
mailing list address is possibly the first time to a new list, but usually I use
the mailto link in the welcome message for those.
