I back up using Mozbackup. I restore using that. It's worked every time until now. Not all the mails come over but all the Local Folders have done in the past. This time NOTHING was restored in SeaMonkey. Mozbackup reported the backup file was missing or corrupted. However, the Firefox back up restored perfectly.

There is nothing on the new machine relating to SeaMonkey except for the program itself. I rather suspect there is something in the registry for the latest version that's overriding the older version I tried to install and preventing the folders and mails from being restored.

My options appear to be

(1) forget about a decade's worth of saved research mails and all recent mails since they will not download and one of those is for the rights release to a novel.

(2) Manually resend each saved and recent mail of which there are 2000+ and sort them all out into their folders again.

(3) Dump the new computer at the tip

(4) Get my old machine stabilised (if possible) and go back to using that.

I used to be able to find and remove any left over parts of programs on my old XP machine. I can't do it on Win10.

There was a 5th option but apparently you do not wish to either answer my questions or follow my instructions. Oh well...

Well, he has said his backup is corrupt and his new machine has only the new virgin profile. Can you still help? Where else should he look?
