Does anybody know how to insert a merge field in the salutation of a form letter that will insert both first names of couples and/or just the first name of single person?
I've tried inserting the merge field <Name line> but get the last name as well, which I don't want. I also tried inserting <First name1> 'and' <First name2>, which works fine when the record is a couple, but tags on 'and' plus a space and then the comma to a single persons name in the letter. I can't use the merge field <salutation> because not all of my records have names posted in this field. ???

A second issue I'm encountering in formatting form letters ( in layout mode)  is occurring when I insert a signature ( actual signature scanned and inserted as picture) at the bottom of the letter. In order for it to appear and print in the correct place, I have to position it several lines above that space, often on top of existing text. It prints correctly though. I don't understand why I can't just position it in layout where it actually needs to be. I had this problem with bullets as well. Any body else experience this? Grouping didn't help.

Thanks...
